3 Cakes And A Tray Of Sushi
WOW what a week! Not sure how all my missionary friends get their emails sent out first thing in the morning haha sorry thats not me BUT this week was so fun!
Random:
-Went to a Supermaxi today which is like their Costco here, and legit felt like i was in a regular grocery store in the states lol
-eating popcorn while calling a bunch of people and hermana Huamandraime goes "i feel like i'm in a cine(movie theater)...but spiritual"
-abt every 5 minutes hermana Huamandraime says "hace frio" or "tengo frio" while literally wearing long sleeves and a jacket and i'm standing there in short sleeves. cracks me up every time
-i think every day hermana mendez and i figure something out abt how we both grew up and its reallyyyy weird how identical our childhoods were which is so funny bc we're literally besties and shes the only person that keeps me sane here with the other hermana lol but maybe sisters from another mother? who knows
Yesterday in church in the relief society lesson, there's a lady from the states in our ward and has no desire to speak spanish so i took it upon myself to translate the whole lesson for her. Dont know what was going thru my head in that moment but i ended up understanding all of it and getting a lot out of the lesson instead of zoning out like usual cuz i don't understand.
I'm not one to talk about my birthday but it’s too funny not to share. Basically it was a birthday week instead of just one day. Last monday night, the night before my birthday, we visited a family whos super active in the church they're literally awesome, and i got to start and end the lesson and was the one to talk to most which is not common lol. But the dad the whole time was smiling at me and asked me after "did you study or learn spanish before coming here?" me: "uhhhh nope haha the gift of tongues is real!" And the daughters boyfriend had a bday recently so they had a cake and i mentioned how funny the timing was that the next day was my birthday and they freaked out haha they were so happy. They ended up sending us home with half the cake. THEN the night of my birthday, we were with a member family(maybe my favorite family ever but no no i dont have favorites or anything) but she taught us how to make empanadas and hot chocolate which was already such a treat, THENNN she had heard that we liked sushi so they ordered sushi to the house and i literally almost cried and they also freaked out when they found out it was my birthday they're the cutest! THEN thursday we had district council and in the middle of it, President and his wife walked in without us knowing ahead of time so all of us were like uhhh jk but seriously i LOVE them so so much, like they're my besties cuz i see them so much but i have so much respect for them! Anyways president amd my whole district ended up giving me a WHOLE cake and sung to me bahaha. If my family knows anything abt my birthday, its that i'm not a fan of cake which is so ironic but whatevah. hermana huamandraime ended up eating half the cake by the end of the night (thats not a joke), i legitamately dont know how she can eat so much sugar per day but no judgements here lol you do you girl! Anyways the next day we went to lunch at a members house and the elders were there with us and they mentioned how my birthday was this week and ofc then the Hermana gave me a mini cake, basically a chocolate twinkie haha! Anyways i legit haven't celebrated my birthday this much or for a while which was funny timing becase ngl i was megaaaa homesick last week. But we're thriving now! The members and the people here are absolutely incredible and i ask myself every day how i got so lucky to be here!
Still teaching that family from my email last week! And GUYS i think every lesson just keeps getting better! They're progressing SO much! The couple isn't married tho and getting married here is pretty pricey for the people, but in the lesson yesterday abt the law of chastity, Miguel mentioned that shes the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with (needed a box of tissues in that moment it was so sincere) but anyways we're trying to help them get married so that we can set a baptismal date WOOHOO! Oh and 3 lessons ago, at the end of the lesson abt temples and families, the holy ghost told me to talk abt gospel library so i introduced that to them and now they're doing family scripture study and the daughter is watching all the gospel videos.
Talk to you next week!
