Ice Cream With Cheese??? Yup, It’s A Thing Here

Hola mi familia y amigos! WOW what a week!

-first week was wayyy slow bc we came into literally a brand new area, like absolutely whitewashed it haha sooo basically we didnt have anyone to teach until this week. But we finally are picking up pace and found people!

-Starting to understand that missing peanut butter is a real thing on the mission haha. Can u guess how much a thing of JIF pb is?? Nope u guessed wrong, its $26.

-its true, people do eat ice cream with shredded cheese on it, have no clue who thought it was a good idea but i promise i'll try it when i get ice cream and let ya'll know how it is lol

-stepped in wet dog poop that other day cuz im just like that, and plus poop is literally everywhere here, but basically it dried on the bottom of my shoe so then i put them on the next morning and starting walking in the apartment and noticed dried, crumbling poop alllll over the floor, from the room to the kitchenthat was fun to clean up

-we visited a recent convert yesterday his name is Bryan and has a tattoo on the side of his face that says "esperanza" or "hope" and he might just be one of the happiest converts ive ever met and he even said "la palabra de dios es verdad" and in the middle of our dicussion he ran to buy us yogurt and cookies (which is a common combo here for some reason) but hes just awesome we love bryan!

-met another amazing lady while contacting, Marlene, and her faith is AMAZING! Although people here dont quite grasp the concept of the gift of the holy ghost because they always say they already have it and obviously we cant say "you're wrong", but they are wrong haha bc they dont have it with them as a constant companion which is such a blessing and gift in our church!

-met with another lady, Angelica, and her granddaughter and their situation is pretty sad. We visited them the other morning in their suuuuper tiny house and us 3 hermanas sat on a 2 person couch, but they explained that Angelica's daughter is in the hospital with really bad lung problems, and Angelica said she would come to church but didnt showkeeping their family in our prayers

-we called another lady, Paola, 2 days ago and she told us that her daughter isnt doing well healthwise, her son does drugs, and her husband has really bad drinking problems and that she feels really alone.

FIRST ZONE CONFERENCE!
Woohoo! Friday was sooo fun with our mission! Elder Piño from the Seventy came and spoke with us and in his talk he wanted to do a role play with President DelCarpio and his wife and needed a volunteer companionship sooo i said why not? And raised my hand lol. Dont think Hermana Huamandraime was super happy abt it bc she gets suuper nervous abt being in front of people but i was like girl i barely even speak the language HAHA but apparently we killed it and it was a bit nervewracking trying to speak spanish in front of a Seventy, my mission president, and most of the missionaries in the mission but we survived. President called me out after and pointed at me and said "shes only been here learning spanish for a week and she volunteered" BAHAH we love him, but it was so fun to have the opportunity to get to know other missionaries here!

-today for p-day we're at the Presidents house hanging out and eating hamburgers and playing volleyball its actually a party.

If you guys(if you remember) could pray for these people that would be a huge helpPrayer list:
-Bryan
-Marlene
-Angelica and her daughter
-Paola and family

Yesterday we rode a bus all the way Nayon which is abt 15 minutes away and the house we were visiting literally was surrounded with hundreds of people bc there was some kind of concert haha(theres a video of it in my photos)but we ran into a member family that directed us to another members house nearby. We walked to the house and found that the member living there is the chorister every sunday! Anyways we shared a message with her and my comp shared my favorite scripture 2 Nephi 22:2, "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song, and he also has become my salvation".

For those of you that know me really well, you know that i constantly have a song stuck in my head. Always. Its kinda like a little party in my head all the time lol. But this week 3 songs kept repeating my in mind and honestly was one of the only things that helped me thru the week.
1. I'm trying to be like Jesus
2. Gethsemane
3. A childs prayer
Whether it was me not having patience with one of my companions, or doubting that Heavenly father is listening to my pleading for the gift of tongues, or not believing that i will be able to do this for a year and a half, these songs are what are getting me thru it. Music can bring the spirit in a different way that nothing else can. So when my comp shared this verse last night, i felt that i needed to add. I said everything off the top of my head, all in spanish of course, and shared that im grateful for the opportunity to sing the praise of our loving, saving, and redeeming Prince of Peace every day. I said that i'm grateful to be a member of a church where EVERYONE can be a missionary every day and rely on our "fortaleza" or "strength" every moment. So, how can we all sing the praise and song of our Savior, Jesus Christ this week??

Let me know how it goes!

Love you all!
Hermana Jones
