I'M IN THE PLACE I'VE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT!

Hola hola my beautiful family and friends! How are all of you?! I need updates!

YOU GUYS! IM IN FREAKING ECUADOR WHATTTT?!?! This is crazy. I honestly cant wrap my head around it. Also if theres a bunch of spelling errors in here just keep in mind that we only have one phone and i dont have a ton of time to write this.

The name of my first area is El Inca and its about 75° here every day and thats the hottest it gets. Its not humid where i am at all bc im still kind of in central quito!

IM IN A TRIO WOOHOOO! Hermana Mendez is my trainer, shes from Utah and had been here for 15 mnths shes actually the best trainer i could have asked for!! She for sure knows what shes doing here haha. My other comp is Hermana Huamanraime shes from Peru which is sooo good for my spanish learning! Shes so cute hahs i love her so much, shes learning english rn so we're kinda helping each other with the languages!

Alright i dont have time to tell a bunch of stories but heres a few things that have happened this week that made me already fall in love with Ecuador:

-first day we contacted for 5 1/2 hours straight(literally knocking doors and talking to random people on the street) honestly that was the hardest day so far because i literally had no clue what anyone was saying haha. BUT we ended up getting 20 PHONE NUMBERS! It was such a successful first day!

-got passed the sacrament by a guy in a red leather jacket and leather boots and sunglasses, he's pretty cool

-i challenged myself a long time ago to bear my testimony every fast sunday, so in sacrament meeting yesterday i thought to myself "just because i dont speak the language well is no excuse to not share" SO i ended up being the last person to bear a testimony and ngl every spanish word disappeared from my mind the second i got up there but i survived haha! I started by saying that i had only been in the field for 4 days and everyone laughed haha. Apparently i did okay bc people came up to me after saying my spanish is already so good!

-two nights ago at 8:30 we walked 20 minutes to an inactive family's house who said they would be there, we get to the sketchy street and therez a scary stray dog who wouldnt let us pass haha so we legit stood there not moving for 10 min. The second i moved he almost attacked me, turns out that family wasnt even home

-okay where i am (you can see in ths pics) is kind of up high in the mountains so literally every street we walk on is a mountain, so basically i workout all day every day its a party

-we only get so much money here every two weeks and im kind of starving all. the. time. so every time we walk be a panderia(bread shops that are on every corner) my stomach growles lol. I went from eating 3 meals every day in the mtc to 1 meal per day bc they dont usually eat a ton for breakfast and never est dinner. So ya its so fun, but THE FOOD HERE IS CHEFS KISS. we've had 3 lunches with members (we can only eat w members bc its not safe to eat w other people healthwise) but WOW im impressed with the food here! Also the fruits here are so fun! Im gonna try to eat everything weird here so i can feel a part of the culture.

-my mission president and his wife might just be the kindest people ive ever met fr. When we got to the airport and i met the wife (aka my mission mom) she legit wouldnt stop hugging me shes thr cutest person ever! My president is so genuine and kind, i can tell he has so much love for every missionary! My first interview with him was in full spanish(only his wife speaks a little english) and i'd only been here for like half a day so im just sitting there like uhhhh... i have no clue what u just said but here we are lol

THE GIFT OF TONGUES IS SO FOR REAL GUYS!!!! I cannot thank my heavenly father enough for helping me and being beside me every second of every day. My trainer keeps telling me how much my spanish has already improved which is good to hear! I have nothing to fear when  walking with my Savior every day. Something i noticed this week is that the word "enough" in spanish is "suficient". I loved this because theres kind of 2 meanings to it. We are enough in God's eyes so never forget that! One of my favorite scriptures says "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me".

GOD IS GOOD! I challenge you all to look for him in the small things this week because he makes miracles happen in ways we sometimes can't see. Praying for all of you!! Love and miss you!

Signing out!
