Angels Bearing Us Up

Happy Monday everyone! And happy p-day to all my missionary friends.

Hope you are all doing well and staying safe! If I can be praying for anyone plz plz plz reach out, I would absolutely love to pray for people so send names por favor!

☆I HAD MY FIRST BAPTISM!!! Hector us the coolest guy out there let me tell ya, we sent him a text the morning of his baptism to ask him how he's feeling bc he was a bit nervous and he responded by saying "I'm good I'm just waiting until the hour comes, but I'm firm in my decision to be baptized" WOOHOO he's just the best. The baptism was so freaking good and I got to lead the music and felt like a pro thanks shoutout to the one and only Hermana Mendez! Hector shared his feelings after and told us a story of his conversion and how he was in a really dark place just 3 weeks ago when one of our other converts found him in the street. He said he's learned from jehovahs witnesses but was never baptized, attended another church for a while but was also never baptized in that church because it never felt right. He wanted to learn more about the life after this life and when we taught the plan of salvation last week it all fell into place for him and he felt so peaceful when extended the invitation to be baptizedI'm so grateful for his example in my life

☆had another long lesson with the family we're teaching but this time the lesson was 3 hours instead of 2 haha and they didn't even end up coming to church lol but literally half the lesson was him talking about their marriage and some other problems in his life and he legit said that they need therapy uhhh...but anyways he kept talking and at that point I was getting antsy bc of the time and because my head was gonna explode with spanish so I straight up said "ok jorge we aren't in therapy right now but thank you for sharing, we know that you problems can be fixed with the help that you said you need and with the help of our Savior Jesuschrist" don't worry guys he didn't take offense haha sometimes ya just gotta be blunt and I'm not afraid of doing that when I need to.

☆the amount of times I get strange looks in the street every day is actually insane. Like okay I know I look different but plz stop lookin at me it's annoyingthe worst is when it's a creepy guy and he says "how are you doin?" or "hey good evening girl" (yes this happens about 2 a day) like bruh can I plz do something about this to make it stop?? It's gettin real creepy fr

☆intercambios on Tuesday and I taught a lesson to a lady who actually got baptized this past Saturday and she can't see at all or hear very well...that lesson was interesting and I just kinda had to figure it out as we went but it's amazing to see the love that God has for ALL of His children!

☆ate a literal branch in a members home the other day haha the dad literally just started cutting a branch and I was like ummm...what the heck is goin on but apparently it's super common here! I forgot the name of it but it's a sugar branch I think? Was really strange to eat but it was good!

☆lets just say the hermana before me made the relationships with the members in the ward REAL rough especially with almuerzos so now I'm having to mend those relationships and go overboard on saying how good the food is and making sure they know I'm sincere. They don't wanna visit with us because of everything that happened so now i need to mend everything so we can meet our goals for lessons with membersno pressure right?

FAVORITE PART!
Ok like I mentioned last week, I've been listening to a ton of conference talks to prepare, I listen to about 5 every day so if any of you have suggestions plz send them my way!

But I listened to the one and only Elder Holland and his talk "Ministery of Angels" and WOW WOW WOW! Two phrases that I loved were:

"when we speak of those who are instruments in the hand of God, we are reminded that not all angels are from the other side of the veil. Some of them we walk with and talk with—here, now, every day"

"Indeed heaven never seems closer than when we see the love of God manifested in the kindness and devotion of people so good and so pure that angelic is the only word that comes to mind"

I immediately went to one of my favorite scriptures that's been getting me thru this part of my mission in D&C 84:88 that says "And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up" there are so many reasons I love this verse but recently I've been thinking a lot about my uncle the passed away several years ago from cancer. This week was really tough for so many reasons that I can't explain but imagining my uncle sitting next to me in the lessons gives me more peace than I could imagine. One day in particular I was having a hard time speaking spanish and was a bit impatient and I had to just take a second in my mind and imagined the Savior sitting next to me. The peace that overwhelmed me was indescribable and incomprehensible. Go listen to this talk whether you're having a hard time or not because all of us need angels in our lives and I know if you take a second to feel their influence, THEY ARE THERE.

I hope you can all see miracles this week and feel the love of our Savior Jesus christ and His angels. I love this gospel with every part of my being and I'm so grateful to be here no matter how hard or difficult it is at times. I know our Savior is here with us and by our side at all times!

I would love to get updates from you so plz email!!

Love you all!
Hermana Jones
