Indebted To Our Savior
WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER EVERYONE WOOOOO!!!!
OK this week was AWESOME just like every other week but so much happened!
-one of my mtc teachers taught me that the word "pelo" is hair so then I complemented this lady's hair one day and afterwards my comps corrected me and said that the word pelo means "fur" here soon ya basically I complemented a lady's fur that hopefully she didn't think I'm a weirdo
-everyone's name here is either Luis, Jose, Paola, or Maria so I basically have no idea which one is which lol, we'll be calling a Paola and I'll ask which Paola? And my comp goes, "you know, the one with the house and the dog"- ya that helps a ton haha everyone has a house and like 5 dogs
-contacting the other day and this lady opens the door and says "sorry I believe in Jesus Christ and the bible"...us too, I don't see a problem here
-I'm a pro at making empanadas now so we make them like 3x a week its a party.
-started dreaming in Spanish and they're no regular dreams. It's teaching lessons which I do all. day. long. But I'm super stressed abt Spanish when I teach so that means I'm stressed while teaching lessons in my sleep its so fun.
-finally tried encebollado(don't think that's spelled right) AND ceviche de camaron(shrimp) and you guys...I've never had such good seafood in my life
-HAD MY FIRST EXCHANGE WOOHOO! I had an exchange with Hermana Abbott in Chillogallo which was soon fun! Pretty sure we spoke English the whole time besides talking to people but esta bien. Got to see what another area is like and how the people are and how much I'm grateful for the obedience of my comps. but ya then a 19 year old started braiding my hair in the church building...dont exactly know how that happened because I didn't know what he said and then he just started doing my hair and I didn't know how to stop him lol that was a funny moment. We had a lesson where we invited a guy to be baptized 5 times who's had ALL the lessons and is literally so ready but he only wants to be baptized in January who knows why but ya exchanges were exhausting but FUNN!!
-WE FINALLY WENT TO THE BASILICA TODAYYYY! It's outside of our mission(in the south mission) but we got permission from President because our numbers are really good so it was a reward! We went to the HUGE statue and the famous basÃlica(if you lookup pics of Ecuador the only pics are of this basÃlica haha), AND the famous market and mayyyy or may not have used a ton of money to buy stuff for my family but it was all too cool not to.
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT:
Ok was reading in Mosiah 2 for my personal study this morning and found something amazing! Verse 24 says "...he doth require that ye should do as he hath commanded you; for which if ye do, he doth immediately bless you; and therefore he hath paid you. And ye are still indebted unto him, and are, and will be, forever and ever; therefore, of what have ye to boast"
I thought it was interesting that it says "immediately" because usually we don't expect blessings so soon, but God is so good and wants to reward us for following his commandments! And I also love that it says "ye are still indebted to him forever". WOW. We can't have the mindset of, oh nothing I do will ever be enough for him. We need to have the mindset of BECAUSE of Him. His sacrifice is more than we can comprehend so the LEAST we can do is follow his commandments right? This scripture humbled me so much and I'm so grateful for the wisdom of the words of God. We will always be indebted to our Savior Jesus Christ because of His humble, kind, loving, charitable sacrifice for each one of us.
I challenge you guys to say a gratitude prayer this week so thank Him for everything you have! Have such an amazing week!
