Hard Work Payin Off
What's poppin?! How are you all? I want to hear from youuuu plz write me when u can!
To be honest nothing super crazy happened this week. Gets a little repetitive doing the same thing every day haha, BUT so much good progress this week so here we goooo:
☆started english classes and we invited about 40 people and guess how many people came? Ya only 1 person RIP but with time and patience more people will come
☆there are days where my spanish just stops working. Pretty much I have like and on and off button thats turns off when I'm tired which is pretty much all the time so that's a party it's funny cuz when I'm having a hard day with my spanish I'll say something like "wow my spanish isn't working today" and my comp will say "ya it's not good you need to work on it". Great boost of my self esteem thanks comp it means a lot and just warms my heart
☆we'll contact for hours and I'll successfully get like 10 numbers and usually only 1 ends up being interested BUT it's 1 more person that wants to learn more about our Savior!
☆I contacted a lady the other day that didnt even let me finish the phrase that im a missionary and she said "ya write my number down I've been wondering who you guys are and i want to learn more" and we have a visit with her Wednesday
☆transfers this week! Let's just say that President is leading to the fact that there's a big chance that I might be a trainer but let's just see abt that literally we have no clue what's gonna happen haha so many possibilities!
☆our convert Hector (my first baptism) passed the sacrament yesterday and my heart grew 5x bigger it was such a precious moment
☆7 OF OUR FRIENDS CAME TO CHURCH WOOOHOOOOO literally was a miracle because we messaged literally everyone Saturday night and got several responses saying they would come and we were SHOOK because some of them didn't have an interest or had something going on yesterday, but THEY CAME! Shout our to the married couple jorge and Isabel who we had yet another 2 1/2 hour lesson with on Saturday and thought for sure they wouldn't come because of SO many issues that I can't explain, but as we were walking to church they stopped and rolled down their window and said hi. I. was. shook. Finally our hard work is paying off!!!
☆THIS WEEK WE HAD FOUR DATES FOR BAPTISM!!! the next paragraph is one of them
☆BAPTISM FOR HENRY!!! I've been teaching him ever since I got here and wow he is incredible. His dad had cancer super severe so he was super busy taking care of him, but his dad passed away this week on Monday. So we asked him if he wants to change his baptismal date and he said absolutely not, I want to get baptized this week. WOW he's so strong. His baptism was probably one of the most chaotic I'll have in my mission but esta bien! The elders had a baptism at 11, and the light went out at 12 which made it super hard because the water was freezing, and it was dirty because the elders didn't clean the font and we didn't have electricity for hymns on the tv so we went acapella again that was fun. THEN the baptizer forgot his pants. literally. and realized it 5 minutes before the baptism started. THEN bishop realized that he forgot all the baptismal clothes genuinely don't know how that's possible to forget such an important thing but it's fine haha. Anyways SO chaotic but so so good. GUESS how many people came?!?! YOU GUYS 42 PEOPLE WERE IN THE ROOM WHEN HE WAS BAPTIZED!!! Such a miracle! He was so peaceful and happy and even his member girlfriend came from North Ecuador and he's told us several times that he wants to marry her and be cealed in the temple!!!! Isn't that the cutest Henry is a legend
BEST PART:
Ok not gonna lie, I'm having MAJOR temple withdrawals and thats not a joke. For real I think about the temple prolly 3 times a day and how I just wanna do one session but I took the advice of my mission mom from our past devotional and it was so good! She told her son, who's on a mission too, to listen to calming music and close your eyes, and imagen being in the temple, going through each step inside the holy house of the Lord. Doing baptisms, or initiatories, an endowment session, or a cealing. I ended this visualization in my head and had tears streaming down my face because I felt the love of my Savior Jesus Christ so strong through those ordinances. I felt fulfilled and genuinely had a "mini" temple experience.
In Doctrine and Covenants 97:15-16 it says "15 And inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it, that it be not defiled, my glory shall rest upon it;
16 Yea, and my presence shall be there, for I will come into it, and all the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God."
I've always loved those two scriptures with all my heart because I've always had the desire to be in the house of the Lord. I thank my parents and my siblings every day for setting that example of making it a priority. Me encanta que verse 16 says "I will come into it and ALL the pure in heart that shall come into it shall see God. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE PROMISE!!! That if we are pure in heart, we will be able to see his presence there. And he rests there!! You guys I think sometimes we take for granted the temples. Whether we live close to one, or whether you do or don't attend it much, we take them for granted. They are literal HOUSES OF THE LORD where the Lord and his spirit can dwell. Who wouldn't want this blessing?? Who wouldn't want to help those on the other side of the veil? Who wouldn't want to feel his love encircling you as you sit in the celestial room??
GO TO THE TEMPLE. THIS WEEK. THIS MONTH. AND FOREVER. Never forget how lucky we are to have those houses of the Lord so near and dear. Go and feel his love and find answers. We truly are so blessed.
