Recognizing The Hand Of Our Savior

Muyyyy buenos a todos!! Welcome to this week's stories from here in Atahualpa, Chillogallo...here we goooooo!!!!

Tip: if you just wanna read spiritual thoughts and miracles in my emails always skip down to the bottom

☆one hermana in our ward needed help locking the church after an activity because her key wasn't working so we headed to the church and the second i attempted...it broke in half...we spent the following 45 minutes attempting to retrieve the other half from the door, bishop came to the rescue but I felt terrible lol

☆we didn't have whatsapp for 4 days because it blocked us for no absolute reason and it was actually the hardest 4 days of being here in this area ngl. It made me realize how much we need it haha and when we called the secretary asking for help he straight up said "ya let's wait a little longer and see what happens" we were like ELDER WE NEED WHATSAPP WE CAN'T WORK WITHOUT IT! And on top of that without electricity half the time is an absolute nightmare.

☆we thought the whole not-having-light thing was until December...turns out it's until April...ya I might cry.

☆we had interviews this week and basically President and I are besties, no but seriously he is so directly guided by the hand of the Lord it's incredible to see everything he does by inspiration. Our interview was so spiritually uplifting I just love them because I can get advice and feedback on how to depend more on our Savior.

☆3 of the days this week were ferriaros (holidays) because of Halloween and the two first days of November is basically their day of the dead here, so basically everyone was with their families and didn't wanna say a word to us

STORYTIME!!!
Friday was prolly the toughest day I've had in the mission so far because every one of our 5 visits canceled, we couldn't call because we didn't have light and our whatsapp wasn't working, that's the day I broke the key and felt awful, and we couldn't find anyone to teach and for some reason felt like it was my fault. We went to my favorite family's house for lunch and the dad could tell something was wrong with me haha. He kept asking me why I was so quiet when usually I'm positive and happy, and I literally started crying in front of them haha and they just kept saying "LLORA LLORA" like cry cry it's okay!!!! They were so precious, and the mom wrapped her arms around me (she's basically my second mom) and they shared some uplifting thoughts. The dad started crying and told us that he doesn't like seeing us discouraged because we're part of his family and we're angels on this earth to share the gospel may or may not have cried thru that whole thing...

Anyways, we left their house feeling a bit better and happier, went to the mall to get help with our phones, bought greenfrost OFC (my Ecuador friends/missionaries know where it's at with greenfrost) and then headed to the chapel for a lesson. Our recent convert showed up to help us with the lesson...then our friend didn't show. I genuinely was so frustrated at this point, like why were we being stopped from sharing the gospel. I kept thinking, heavenly father why don't we have light, why aren't our phones working, and why won't the people just show up for the lessons if all we're trying to do is share your gospel???

We headed back towards our house looking for something different to eat bc after a second, hamburgers and fries gets reallyyyy old. We found this cute little Mexican restaurant and ended up talking with the owners and mom and a son, Maria and Jonathan. They were super curious who we were and why we are here from other countries. HERE'S THE MIRACLE! We ended up teaching a whole lesson about the gospel of Jesus christ, gave them a book of mormon and a pamphlet and invited them to church. The spirit was SO incredibly strong during all of it, it was amazing and they were absolutely intrigued by everything we were saying. Jonathan had to work Sunday but MARIA CAME TO CHURCH!!! We left that restaurant that night feeling so overwhelmed with love from our Savior Jesus christ. He saw our efforts. He saw that we had tried our very best that day and he wanted to give us something in return, we just needed to have patience and TRUST.

A got an email recently from the sweetest family member and she said something that I loved and needed to hear. She said "trust the plan". It's so simple but so vital and important. In Doctrine and Covenants one of my favorite scriptures is in chapter 121 verse 7 which says "My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;" pretty clear ya? I can't beat that scripture, but i can say that I've already seen it so much in my mission. This week was so extremely hard, but SO extremely rewarding and good. We ended up making our goals for new people this week somehow, with the hand of the Lord. I think i was so focused on the work and finding new people, that i needed a wake up call and a reminder that HE IS THE WORK. This is HIS mission. Not mine. Be patient in your afflictions because he has a plan. TRUST THAT PLAN. WITH PATIENCE and I promise you will see the hand of the Lord in everything you do.

Les amo mucho have an amazing week!
Xoxo
