Despite The Opposition

Today i don't have a ton of time to write and email because I'm going to Santo Domingo today for the leadership conference! So i thought i'd just share my favorite part of emails! Everything is centered around Him who was born, died, and resurrected for us.

This week was rough I'll admit it. When we contacted, people either said they're visiting and not from here, or they're too busy to learn about their Savior. It stings especially this time of year when you put in every effort possible to help them come to church and they've committed to come, then halfway into the meeting they tell us they're not coming, thanks for the heads up! Despite every effort we tried this week. Nothing worked. Nothing helped. And sometimes i feel like a failure of a missionary. BUT, then there's the grace of our Savior and it saves me every time. I was reading in Alma during my personal study yesterday and read in chapter 26(one of my favs) and verse 27 says,

"Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites, and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success."

And verses 30 and 31 say,

"And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some.

Now behold, we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many; yea, and we can witness of their sincerity, because of their love towards their brethren and also towards us."

This really spoke to my needs in the moment and what i needed this week to keep going despite every opposition we had. I love that verse 30 says "all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul. The fact that as missionaries we are set apart and chosen to serve and help even one soul  to come unto Christ and help their salvation, is incredible and indescribable. But even then, like verse 31 says, "we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many..."

Bringing God's children back to his presence is a joy that i can't begin to describe. A joy that fills my whole body and soul. A joy that helps me get to know and understand my Savior more. A joy that people can see in me because i have Him in my life. We don’t know Him perfectly, but little by little with the help of His grace, we can.

Les amo mucho have an amazing week!

Xoxo
