The Best Is Yet To Come
MY LOVELY FRIENDS AND FAMILYYY what is up?!?! I miss you all so so much but the WORK. IS. GOOD. Let me tell ya! Let's get right into it:
Things that only happen in a South American country:
-a drunk guy came up to me and started speaking french bc he thought I'm from France and then grabbed my hand (while i was trying to pull it away) and kissed it with achohol bubbles around his mouth
-a dad gave his 4 year old a cup of beer and said "its good right?" when the kid starting chugging it, that was just sad to watch honestly
-ate the absolute best corviche of my life (if you dont know what that is I'm so sorry for you) and contacted the lady and on the spot taught her for 45 minutes and invited her to be baptized
-taxi driver planned our wedding and asked me to marry him and told me we can live here in Ecuador..how nice
-stressed ourselves out of our minds yesterday going to pick up our converts whole family for church yesterday. Basically what happened was that (keep in mind all the kids are members now, it's only the parents that aren't members cuz they're not married but don’t worry, working on that. Baptism coming soon) we were heading to their house and they were all aware that we were heading to pick them up. My comp and i are waiting and the bus doesn't come for a solid 20 minutes. We have 40 minutes until church at this point. 15 minutes in the bus later we arrive at their house and I kid you not, absolutely NO ONE was ready for church so we wait there for a solid 20 minutes and run out the door while the parents leave on the motorcycle to the church and we're stuck with the teens waiting for a taxi for 10 minutes. My comp and I prayed for a taxi and not joking...20 seconds later one showed up. MIRACLE. Going to the church we remembered we had to swing by the watermelon vender and bring the wife to church bc she committed to come...we get there and she wasn't even there. Our church starts at 1:00 and now it's 1:10 and we're hitting every red light possible 🕑and the taxi count goes up to $5 (#imsopoorhereinelbosque) and I was sitting there thinking, great, now we're not even gonna be able to take the sacrament because we're late but we show up with the whole family of 7 people and the SECOND we walk in the chapel, they're singing the sacrament hymn. UM. Can we just say MIRACLE OF A MIRACLE??? GOD IS GOOD.
-we extended 5 baptismal invitationes this week and not one of them accepted, low key felt so disappointed this week haha
-served and visited our next fecha bautismal, Rosita and asked how she feels about baptism and she started asking about the clothes she would wear and I was like uhhhh so does that mean yes you wanna get baptized hermana?? And she SAID YES!!!! She even picked her baptismal date for...AUGUST..........ya there was a second of silence when she said that haha. I don't think she quite understands the meaning of "do not procrastinate the day of your repentance"
SPIRITUAL:
I'm starting to listen to general conferences talks every day to prepare for that weekend comin soon and I was reading the past talk by our beloved prophet and read,
"It is neither too early nor too late for you to become a devout disciple of Jesus Christ. Then you will experience fully the blessings of His Atonement. You will also be more effective in helping to gather Israel."
I just loved this so much because it really doesn't matter who you are or where you are in your life, you can ALWAYS share the gospel. Sharing the gospel helps us discover our true identity and I know that so much to be true. So this week, go share! Go share your light with everyone around you or go share and help the missionaries that are closest to you because it really is such a special experience that everyone should have. The prophet testifies that if you do this, you will be effective in gathering Israel. He also testifies,
"The best is yet to come, my dear brothers and sisters, because the Savior is coming again! The best is yet to come because the Lord is hastening His work. The best is yet to come as we fully turn our hearts and our lives to Jesus Christ." Keep preparing for the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because he comes so soon!
Love you all SO so much! Ciao,
Hermana Jones
